Queer Day

SM Fairview Annex building is a gem of a place for those who like to people watch? As I have discovered just a while ago, the place is brimming and teeming with life forms that can be categorized into three: (1) black-clad; (2) white-clad; and (3) others.

---

Before that, let me say how this day has been interesting so far. The FX I rode this morning was driven by an office woman (who had some other office friends aboard) who's probably just trying to make extra cash for the gasoline expenses. She was telling her friends sitting in front with her about her recent lesbian relationship disaster. Turns out that the woman, already in her late 30s I presume, is a lesbian who is/was married with kids.

She's had a relationship with another woman who goes by the name of Blessie for 10 years already. Until, her friend Jenna (who has a boy friend) turns out to have gone into a relationship, starting last May 28, with Blessie. Jenna didn't know that Blessie and Annie are together. The duration of the story happened within one roof and spanned a week or so. Annie, btw, caught Blessie and Jenna making out (to which Blessie replied, "SHe's just massaging my back," to which, Annie replies, "Who massages somebody's back from the front???") And then blablabla.

Annie slept in the living room on a sofa that night while Blessie and Jenna slept inside the room. In the wee hours of the morning Blessie comes out, invites Annie in, and they all lie down on the bed with Jenna in the middle. And then Blessie asked Annie to teach Jenna how to do something, which was not exactly mentioned but I suppose is, lesbian. (Which according to Annie, who was telling the story, involved her asking Jenna to turn over, her straddling her from the back, her tickling her ears, her kissing Jenna's neck, and who the hell knows what happened after.) Annie asked Blessie to leave the room for a while so she could teach Jenna how to do something very sexually lesbian in private. Blessie leaves. But returns after some minutes.

Blablablabla. And then I got off Philcoa when the story was somewhere around Blessie leaving for some place together with Jenna in secret. (Jenna said she's going to Singapore and Blessie said she's going to Zamboanga, but on the day of Blessie's departure Annie called Zamboanga and Blessie's sister said Blessie cancelled her ticket. Annie called Jenna and asked her where she is, knew it was a lie, told Jenna to tell the truth, but Jenna didn't speak. Blablabla. And Blessie up to now still erupts in fits of "rage" when Annie comes to try to talk and settle things with her.)

Whew. What a story.

On with the SM Fairview story. Well, SM Fairview Annex is now miraculously, or quite predictably, really, a hangout for the various black-clad people: punx unite members (they have various chapters, you know), "cool dude rakista" girls and boys, skaters, pseudo-skaters, "punkistas," and other people who would most probably be seen in a concert trying to gate crash. It is also an after-classes hangout for the nearby med students of Our Lady of Fatima University who, I convinced myself, have dominated the whole of SM Fairview by their sheer number, whiteness, and bandwagon-ness with their choice of career.

Some of the black-clad punx unite members or wannabe-members are clearly high school students. What with their khaki pants or black slacks and black leather/rubber shoes? In fact, I spotted somebody who changed into his punx unite costume (cropped, cut-off, plaid (optional) pants, Chucks, and mandatory black shirt - usually some band shirt from the store Top 40) outside the mall. They can be spotted littered all over the mall congregating on any unoccupied space on the floor.

On the other hand, the still-in-uniform students can be seen inside the two Netopia internet-gaming stations. (Yes, there are two stations in one building, within approximately 8 meters of each other).

I'm going back to that place soon and wait for the mall to fill-up with this assortment skaters, gamers, nursing students, punx unite members, bandistas, rakistas, etc. Anybody wanna come people watch with me? It'd make a good thesis, actually.
