(Insert nifty quote from Amelie here)
“Beef eater! Beef eater!” they yelled at the gallows.
I have seriously decided to improve my eating habits for fear of death at the age of 30 due to something that involves the words high, cholesterol, heart and failure. You see, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart palpitations and other heart problems are not uncommon in our family. Sure, these may not be genetic but similarities can be drawn between my food in take and those of the people affected by these. Also, I may just be a paranoid freak, which I probably am, since my grandmother got confined in a span of 2 months due to a case called the attack of the bad cholesterols. It wouldn’t hurt to finally start having a healthy lifestyle, food-wise. (And let me add that there’s been a decline in consumption of dishes swimming in lard for me since late last year, I don’t know why but I don’t enjoy them as much.)
I have decided to eliminate burgers, frenched fries, and similar oily, preservatives-ridden fast food products from my diet. (Okay, who am I kidding? I can’t... I’d eat them once a year then. Just kidding again. And as for the oil, it’s actually the key to feeling full, so it’s necessary in moderated amounts.) I will also decrease my excessive beef intake from now on (since I’m a huge beef fan… huge beef fan, I tell you) and increase my vegetable consumption. I may like veggies but I can’t go totally herbivore. Maybe if I go crazy enough I’ll try it out for a couple of months and see how things turn out.
Sue, my hostel roommate in Kyoto, inspired the vegetarian bit by the way. Even though she’s already old, as in older than 30, she was soul searching of sorts. She’s been away from England for 7 months then when I met her. In that 7 months she’s gone to Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand and a whole bunch of other places. When she started her long sojourn, she started a vegetarian routine as well. She mentioned about keeping it on for a few more months and then she’ll see if she decides to go vegetarian for life when she gets back home. From my calculations she’s already back in England… I wonder what decision she reached regarding that matter.
Anyway, I’ll update on here how my veggieventure and attempts at a healthy diet goes.
Next thing you know I’m cutting back on internet time. (I have actually limited myself to 30 minutes every school night now but I haven’t been holding on too well to it yet.)

On another note, just finished watching Amelie tonight – one week after I bought the vcd. I do not regret not waiting for the price of the vcd to go down to P99. It’s truly one of the best movies I’ve watched. It’s part cinematic brilliance, part feel-good.

i'm actually trying to be vegetarian, but still in vain yet. i still find myself eating meat haha, well at least i cut down on it.. i only meat about twice a week now, or when i have no choice for breakfast.
goodluck to you. hehe.
you eat kimchi.
and all things korean.
nyahaha.
no fries?? aba, hindi na makatao yan ano ba. ahehehe
well, you know, going vegetarian isn't necessarily healthy. the usual stuff still works best: BALANCE, PORTION CONTROL, & EXERCISE.
but here's 1 easy way to eat more healthily: @ every meal, make sure your plate has 1/4 carbs, 1/4 meat, & 1/2 greens. so that means less than a cup of rice, about 1 piece of chicken, & 1 whole serving of salad ^_^
oh! & try not to eat so late into the night. you won't get the chance to burn it off in your sleep :P
kaye: I thought so too. Nyahaha
danna: yeah, that was what i figured out about going vegetarian... it's not very healthy. and being an all-meat eater, it's not very healthy either. and being a no-carb person, it's not very healthy either. so yeah, it all comes down to balance. and thanks for the info. heh.
i am a herbivore, and i love being one.
i recommend it to everyone. (duh) the trick is protein supplements and NOT OVER-DOING IT.
(No matter what Mayuyu says, I don't eat grass. >_<)
oh that was me, sorry.
