Who'll beat Japan now?
I just realized how much China is willing to spend... they're hosting both the next Olympics (2008) and World Expo (2010, in Shanghai). I wonder if anybody else is gonna beat the tremendous new technology Japan showcased in this year's expo. I'm thinking nobody can possibly beat this year's expo. Well, we just have to see.

Mitsubishi Pavillion
As quoted:
The world's first “futurecast system”
The outside wall of the pavilion will not be closed up; instead it will take the shape of a louver covered with an “aqua wall” of running water that will provide visitors with a sense of coolness and a comfortable space.
The main attraction will be a theater in which visitors participate. The world's first “futurecast system” will instantly scan the faces of all who enter and convert them into computer graphics that will be displayed on the theater screen.
A powerful space adventure titled “Space Child Adventure” will deliver fun, emotion and surprises to the audience.

The First Experiential Video Space in World Exposition History
Through the use of one of the world's largest floor video screens (roughly 600 m2), visitors will be able to stand on the floor and walk through an experiential video space. Video images will be presented on the walls and overhead as well, so visitors will enjoy being able to freely alter their visual perspective, and the combination of audio will make this a moving experience for the human senses. Each of the 185 days of the Expo will see a different program combining hundreds of scenes of nature and living creatures, the first such undertaking in the history of World Expositions.

Wonder Circus-Electric Power Pavillion
There's an electric car ride that'll take you on a tour of a certain portion of the place. Here's the outline of the eight scenes it'll take you through.
Science and Tech Zone
[1. Kaleidoscope Tunnel]
Visitors pass through a giant kaleidoscope, heading into a new world of light and color.
[2. Galaxy Station]
A mysterious space in which visitors can experience the beauty of the Earth and the limitlessness of space unfolds.
[3. Vault of Heaven Station]
The train exits from the pavilion, and visitors will enjoy a view of the Expo grounds from a height of 15 meters above the ground.
Coexistence with Nature Zone
[4. Coral Station]
Visitors will see the mysterious world of the sea, including a coral reef.
[5. Owl Station]
As visitors pass through the darkness, a world of the sounds of nature and forest creatures unfolds around them.
[6. Four Seasons Station]
Visitors move into the rich, beautiful four seasons of the satoyama, in which it is almost as though the forest itself is breathing.
Human Heart Zone
[7. Festival Station]
Visitors enjoy a world in which the human energy present in traditional festivals throughout Japan is condensed.
[ 8. Impressive Smiles for Tomorrow]
This is an epilogue featuring encounters with the smiles of the visitors themselves.
