So. Awesome.
I absolutely love the displaced feel of the new Miu Miu campaign, not to mention the disorienteed feeling I get seeing the photos.
Frankly, at first I couldn't make things out easily just with one look and I figured it's really much more than a standard magazine advertisement. I felt at first that the lighting, while they did focus on the subject (since the frame was cluttered), like the bag or just this person or just the shoes, it obscured some of the detail. But then again it didn't really. It's just genius. The concept is genius. I was like, "Why does this look like a Wong Kar Wai movie?" at first and then when I read the About of the campaign, it turned out that they really were pushing for this cinematic feel with the lights.
Aaaaaaaaah I love it.
Watch the 'runway' show which was held at the same restaurant setting as the campaign photos, La Perouse. I've seen similar settings of fashion shows but all the details in the setting, plus the clothes, and the different rooms where the spectators are in... it's all so complicated, beautifully confusing when you try to look at everything. But at the same time, it doesn't really overwhelm you to the point of utter confusion.
What I love about the isolated rooms is that it seems really amusing that you're there in a small room with a number of other people and then all of a sudden the models just come in and come out of your room one by one. THere are strategically (I think) placed mirrors/videos/lcd pannels all over the place too.
Here's the link cos Miuccia Prada finally succumbed to the internet yo: http://www.miumiu.com/
